Taxpayer Accountability
The Chula Vista Civic Association was founded by key leaders who led the effort to defeat Proposition "A": a local ballot initiative for which a special election was called and placed on the May 5, 2009 ballot by the Chula Vista City Council (4-1) proposing a 1% tax increase which would have increased the sales tax to almost 10%. The initiative was overwhelmingly defeated with voting 67% against the initiative.
The Chula Vista Civic Association believes in protecting Chula Vista taxpayers from unnecessary taxes and to promoting government efficiency.
