Inaugural Meeting

Hosted at Chula Vista business Coin Mart Jewelry, business owners, residents, elected officials, and community leaders all gathered to celebrate the founding of the Chula Vista Civic Association, as held its first mixer and public meeting last night. The meeting was opened in prayer by Mary Ann Rodriguez of Cornerstone Church of San Diego. Notable guests in attendance included Port Commissioner Bill Hall, Chula Vista Police Department Captain Gary Wedge, Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce President Scott Vinson amongst many others. The key note speaker for the evening was "Taxpayer Watchdog" and San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio. Councilmember DeMaio thanked the Chula Vista Civic Association for its leadership in bringing the reform movement to Chula Vista, offering his assistance in Chula Vista Civic Association's efforts. Administering the oath of office for the founding Board of Directors, was Chula Vista City Councilman Rudy Ramirez. Delivering the Chula Vista Civic Association inaugural address President Ed Herrera highlighted the Association's key issues such as business, reform, economic development, and Chula Vista's financial woes.
